The Spring Garden of Artists of Chaleur Bay Festival

As usually happens in November, New Brunswick prepares for howling winds and snowstorms and icy road. Yes, winter is coming. We brace for the coldest period of our year.

From November to December we have Christmas to look forward to. Then come January and February, months during which many people struggle to pay their heating bills. St. Patricks Day brings such a sigh of relief that no matter what our ancestry, on that one day we are almost all friendly kin, singing rollicking songs, wearing funny hats and drinking green beer.

March and April might sound like Spring in some parts of Canada. Here in Northern New Brunswick we are blessed with so much snow that our Spring arrives later, allowing us a bit more cabin-time to gather up our winter’s work and decide what to do with it.

Artists and writers and musicians are like anyone else. We are not by nature solitary creatures. At some point we like to share our creations. Although we might have locked ourselves away for a while in order to get away from it all, Spring-time is a reminder of new possibilities, clean-sweeps, spring cleaning. Perhaps our poems and songs and artworks lie forgotten in some corner of a basement or attic until someone in our family finally declares dumpster day. Or maybe not.

Is there a time and a place in our lives and our community for us as individual artists to share what we really love to do and what we might have been working on all winter?

Since a Northern New Brunswick Spring only really happens in about May, this is our awakening period, and a good time to hold an Artists’ Spring Festival, providing artists with the opportunity to gather and share and showcase their work and hold workshops and seminars.

We are now planning our Spring Garden of Artists for 2015. Please help us grow. We are looking for individual, independent artists to join us.
Take “artist” to mean visual or graphic artists, sculptors, performing artists, musicians, dancers, singers, etc. (see *CONTACT )

VOLUNTEERS (all ages): If you are not an artist yourself but are interested in helping us grow our Spring Garden of Artists, please contact us. (see *CONTACT)

TRANSLATOR:We are especially interested in finding good translators who understand the nuances of art-talk and would volunteer to translate our signage and other promotional material. We really want to communicate in both official languages and any other language for which we can find a volunteer translator. Please contact us. (see *CONTACT)

FRANCAIS:
Mars et avril pourraient ressembler printemps dans certaines régions du Canada. Ici, dans le nord du Nouveau-Brunswick nous sommes bénis avec donc beaucoup de neige que nos printemps arrive plus tard, ce qui nous permet un peu plus cabine-le temps de ramasser les travaux de notre hiver et décider quoi faire avec elle.

Nous ne sommes pas de créatures solitaires de la nature. Artistes et les écrivains et les musiciens sont comme tout le monde. À un moment donné, nous aimons faire partager nos créations.
Bien que nous pourrions avoir enfermés nous-mêmes pendant un certain temps afin de s’évader, printanière est un rappel de nouvelles possibilités, nettoyer-balayage, nettoyage de printemps. Peut-être nos poèmes et des chansons et des œuvres d’art se trouvent oubliés dans un coin d’un sous-sol ou le grenier jusqu’à ce qu’un membre de notre famille déclare enfin benne jour. Ou peut-être pas.

Y a-t-il un temps et une place dans nos vies et notre communauté pour nous en tant qu’artistes individuels de partager ce que nous aimons vraiment faire et ce que nous pourrions travaillent sur tout l’hiver ?

Car un ressort de New Brunswick Nord arrive seulement vraiment dans tout mai, c’est notre période de réveil et un bon moment d’organiser le Festival de printemps d’artistes, aux artistes la possibilité de recueillir et de partager et de présenter leur travail et de tenir des ateliers et des séminaires.
